Service connection
TaxRateCentral gets its data from the TaxRateCentral web service. The Service Options section of the TaxRateCentral Setup Card holds the connection settings.
Before you connect
Make sure that these conditions are true before you use an action that calls the service.
- Allow HttpClient Requests is on for the extension. See Installation.
- Tax Account (Sales) and Tax Account (Purchases) are filled in on the setup card.
- At least one tax group exists on the Tax Groups page.
- Enabled is on.
The fields
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| EndPoint URL | The address of the TaxRateCentral service. The demo data fills it in. In a production environment, enter the URL that BCAppCo supplies |
| API Key | The key that gives access to the service. The field is masked |
| Timeout | The time in milliseconds that the app waits for the service when it loads states and post codes. Enter 0 to use the service default |
Note. The Timeout value applies to the Load States and Load Zip Codes actions. The rate processing uses the service default timeout.
Enter your API key
- Open the TaxRateCentral Setup Card.
- Choose the Edit action. The API Key field is editable in edit mode only.
- In API Key, paste the key that BCAppCo supplied.
The app stores the key in isolated storage, not in a table field. The page shows the key as a masked value.
The demo key gives access to sample data only. A subscription key gives access to the rates for each state.
