Demo data
Load the built-in demo data to examine TaxRateCentral with a realistic configuration. The loader configures the company setup. It also creates sample states, post codes, tax groups, tax areas, and a job queue entry. You can then see how the app assigns tax areas and updates rates before you subscribe.
Sandbox only. Demo data loads only in a sandbox environment, not in production. In production, configure the TaxRateCentral Setup Card manually.
Load it
Open the TaxRateCentral Setup Card in a sandbox that has no configuration. That is, the TaxRateCentral setup record does not exist. The app then asks this question:
TaxRateCentral setup has not been configured and a demo company has been detected. Would you like to load demo data?
Choose Yes to create the demo data. Choose No to configure the app yourself.
If you already configured the setup, the offer does not show. This prevents demo data on top of real configuration.
When the load is complete, the app shows this message: TaxRateCentral demo data has been successfully loaded. Please review the TaxRateCentral Setup Card to verify the configuration.
What it creates

| Job queue | A job queue entry for the monthly rate update, with the status On Hold. |
The loader does not assign tax areas to customers. To see a tax area assignment, create or edit a customer with one of the sample post codes. See Tax area assignment.
The demo API key gives access to sample data only. To get the rates for each state, enter your subscription key. See Service connection.
After the load
- Open the TaxRateCentral Setup Card.
- Make sure that the G/L accounts are correct for your company.
- Turn on the options that you want to use.
Cleaning up
Demo data is ordinary configuration data. Remove a state, a post code, a tax group, or a tax area through its page when you no longer want it. The loader runs only in a sandbox, so there is no separate “unload” step.
